The Irish Step Dancers
of New Mexico

ISDNM LogoIrish Step Dancers of New Mexico (ISDNM) is a 501 (C)3 non-profit organization made up of dancers, dancer families and other supporters of Irish dance.  The primary purpose of ISDNM is to support the needs of Irish Step Dancers in New Mexico.

Although instruction is provided by the Denver-based McTeggart School of Irish Dance, ISDNM volunteers handle all business, fund-raising, community performances, and the annual state feis (Irish Dance competition pronounced ‘fesh’).  Money raised by ISDNM goes towards paying rent for the studio where classes are held as well as other miscellaneous expenses.

ISDNM meetings are conducted on Saturdays during classes and everyone’s participation is encouraged.

An annual studio rental fee is $25 per family paid on the first Saturday of each January or $10 on the first Saturday of January, February, and March.  New dancers make their first studio rental fee payment at the first available trimester after joining McTeggart.

The McTeggart School

McTeggartMcTeggart is one of the largest and most renowned Irish dance schools in the United States with schools in Colorado, Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Kentucky, California, Arizona, and New Mexico.  McTeggart Irish Dance was brought to the U.S. from County Cork, Ireland in 1957 by Maureen McTeggart-Hall.  Our instructor here in New Mexico is Anne Hall, one of Maureen’s daughters.  Anne is based in Colorado and typically teaches classes here in Albuquerque once a month. Anne is assisted by Kim and Jenny Coleman, two champion dancers who have been dancing for most of their lives.  Without the hard work and support of the Coleman sisters, along with their mother Bev, there would be no McTeggart school in New Mexico.

McTeggart School and Irish Step Dancers of New Mexico admits students and families of any race, color, or national or ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school.  It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, or national or ethnic origin in administration of its educational policies, admissions policies, scholarship programs and other school-administered programs.
