| Our instructor in New Mexico is Anne Hall, one of Maureen McTeggart's daughters. Anne is based in Colorado and typically teaches classes here in Albuquerque once a month. |
Jenny Coleman started dancing with the McTeggart, Colorado school when she was six years old. Kim Coleman joined her sister with the McTeggarts one year later when she was five years old. One year later, they moved east with their family and began attending the Dennehy School, which was in Chicago at that time. After one more move back to the west, they and their mother helped to found a New Mexico branch of the McTeggart school, which has continued for ten years. Both Jenny and Kim have been dancing at the open championship level for the past ten years and have served as class assistants throughout that time.
Jenny and Kim have attended competitions in Spain, Portugal, Ireland, North Ireland, Scotland, Canada, and nearly all states in the U.S. They have each placed first in many local competitions and second in their age group at the Western U.S. Regional Oireachtas. At this same Oireachtas, they have each won the right to attend the World Irish Dance Championships five times.
When they are not dancing, they each enjoy karate, rock climbing, teaching Sunday School, and playing the violin. Jenny holds two bachelor’s degrees in biology and electrical engineering and a masters degree in engineering mechanics with a specialization in mechatronics. Kim holds a bachelor’s degree in technical communication and is working towards a second bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and a master’s degree in engineering management. |
