In case of cancellations/delays of class due to severe weather, dancers can tune in to Channel 7. They have agreed to list us on their crawl at the bottom of the screen on Saturday morning if we have a cancellation. You may also find us on their web site.
Remember that Beth Meier will be having a 'First Feis' class for parents on Dec 15th. This is to introduce the uninitiated into the experience of an Irish dance competition, including registrations, costumes, and any other information you may need to feel comfortable with encouraging your dancer to participate in this wonderful experience.
Starting on Wednesday evening, December 5, 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm at the Lloyd Shaw Studio, Jenny will be holding our first Techniques Class for dancers. The cost is $10, checks should be made out to Jennifer Coleman as this is not associated with ISDNM or McTeggart School. This will be a once-a-month opportunity for dancers of all ages and levels to gather and learn new stretches, exercises and refine or fix techniques that they have been having problems with in their steps. No actual steps will be taught, only techniques to master those steps the dancers are already practicing. Attendance is at your own discretion.
This Saturday parents will have the opportunity to see several items they might consider for Christmas gifts. We have ISDNM mugs, sterling silver pendants with the McTeggart logo as well as ones with the ISDNM logo, skorts, polo shirts and dance bags.
Another option to consider for Christmas gifts are gift cards. ISDNM is taking orders for gift cards during the first two weeks of December (the 1st and 8th) for gift cards. The list of available retailers will be on the table, and all cards will be delivered by the 15th. This is a fund raiser for ISDNM, as we are able to purchase the cards at a discount. The discount varies, but the difference between face value of the card and our actual cost helps us to pay the rent on the studio as well as sponsor the NM State Feis coming up in February. Talk to Bev if you need more information or clarification.
Lastly, we will have a poster with sheets for you to sign up to help at the NM State Championships and Feis, February 22 - 24. This year it will be held at the UNM Student Union Building, and as always we need all the assistance we can get. Jobs include handing our registrations, medals, trophies, building stages, tearing down stages, moving stages, advertising, publicity, raffle assistance, stage moms and more. There's surely something for everyone, and we do need everyone to make this annual event a success.
